Meet our Owner/Manager Joanne Crowe
Thoroughbred Horse Breeder
I was born and raised in southern Ohio on a 4th generation family farm. Horses were part of my life as far back as I can remember. Showing quarter horses became a huge part of my life as a teen and young adult, participating in AQHA shows throughout Ohio Indiana, West Virginia and Kentucky, earning many state titles.
I worked 7 years as a vet tech before graduating from Miami of Ohio with my degree in applied Science and School of nursing. I have over 30 years as a RN in the Emergency department and Recovery room.
However, breeding and raising the foals became my passion. Thoroughbred racing always caught my attention, watching all the Triple Crown and Breeders Cup races. It wasn't until moving to Ocala in 1993 that I was able to learn more in depth about the thoroughbred industry. I was drawn to Ocala because of its reputation as the "Horse Capital of the World".
Crowe's Nest Farm was incorporated in 1996. Although quarter horses will always be my favorite pleasure breed, thoroughbreds captured my heart with their athleticism, heart, and speed. Breeding and selling thoroughbred weanlings and yearlings began in 2004 and I continue to breed and sell at OBS, Keenland and Fasig-Tipton Sales.
Along with breeding and sales, I enjoy offering a facility for retirement horse boarding and equine rehab. The atmosphere is ideal, providing calm surroundings. Race horses, show horses, broodmares, weanlings and yearlings, all find relaxation in the pastures and paddocks with plenty of shade.
What Makes Crowe's Nest Farm Special?
Whether your horse is rehabbing and healing from an injury or retired from showing, racing or a pleasure career, you will find the peaceful atmosphere at CNF to be most therapeutic. Here at Crowe's Nest Farm, horses are treated as individuals. Their feed, hay and care will be what is best suited for each individual horse.
Our concrete block main barn has 12x12 matted stalls with ceiling fans and automatic waters. The separate 2 stall barn has larger, 14x16 stalls. Our pastures and paddocks are all constructed with 4 board and wove wire fences for the safety of the animals.
We have an excellent farrier and veterinary services available. The farm is located in a gated, private area with 24 hour security. In addition, the owner and manager, Joanne Crowe, lives on the premises.
Allow your horse to experience Crowe's Nest Farm. For owners who desire added personalized, individual care for their horses.
