Meet our Owner/Manager Joanne Crowe
Thoroughbred Horse Breeder

I was born and raised on a 4th generation farm in southern Ohio. Horses have always been a significant part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a teenager and young adult I became very involved showing quarter horses in AQHA shows throughout Ohio Indiana, West Virginia and Kentucky, earning many state titles.

I worked 7 years as a vet tech before graduating from Miami of Ohio with my degree in applied Science and School of nursing. I have over 30 years as a RN in the Emergency department and Recovery room.

However, as I became older, breeding and raising the foals became my passion. Today, we offer brood mare and foaling services here at Crowe's Nest Farm. I have always been interested in thoroughbred racing, never missing a Triple Crown or Breeders Cup race. When I moved to Ocala in 1993, I was afforded the opportunity to learn more about the thoroughbred industry. I was originally interested in moving to Ocala because of its reputation as the "Horse Capital of the World".

I incorporated Crowe's Nest Farm in 1996. Quarter horses will most likely always be my favorite pleasure breed. But, thoroughbreds have won my heart with their speed, heart, and overall athleticism. I love caring for horses needing individualized care while on the mend or during extended rehabilitation. The atmosphere is ideal, providing calm surroundings. Race horses, show horses, broodmares, yearlings and weanlings, all find relaxation in our pastures and paddocks with plenty of shade.
